Ukraine's Labor Market: 240,000 Job Vacancies, 131,500 Closed

In the first six months of 2026, Ukrainian employers offered 240,000 job vacancies, of which 131,500 were filled. 230,000 people received unemployment status, with the imbalance attributed to mismatched skills among applicants. The government is retraining individuals: 37,000 underwent free training, 30,000 acquired new professions, 20,000 attended vocational and technical education centers, and 4,100 received vouchers for skills enhancement. Vacancies are being filled most quickly in the fields of trade, services, and logistics. The leading positions in employment are: food sellers - 6,700, transport drivers - 6,200, cooks - 3,300, accountants - 2,700, security guards - 2,400, and administrators - 2,200. There are specialties that do not receive feedback: railcar operators, assistant train operators, train electromechanics, motorists, enrichment and briquetting plant operators, aircraft washers, meteorological technicians, and heads of veterinary clinics. From January to July 2026, 76,000 employers contacted the State Employment Service, registering over 242,000 job vacancies. Due to a labor shortage, salaries for some positions have reached 170,000 hryvnias per month.
