Alphabet's stock rose by 3% following news of Google's development of its next-generation AI server chip. Google is currently working on a new semiconductor called 'Frozen v2' to enhance the performance of its AI model, Gemini. According to Yahoo Finance on the 20th, Frozen v2 is a server semiconductor designed to optimize Gemini, distinct from the currently produced TPU (Tensor Processing Unit). This chip is expected to have 6 to 10 times higher power efficiency than existing custom AI chips and significantly improve AI query response speeds. The launch is anticipated as early as 2028. Google is pursuing a vertical integration strategy by developing both AI models and semiconductors in-house, aiming to reduce operational costs for AI services, enhance performance, and decrease reliance on external semiconductors. Investors are focusing on the scale and results of AI infrastructure investments in Alphabet's earnings report scheduled for the 22nd.
